Missions

Founded in 2022, the Association prioritizes helping premature babies in need. It also helps the mothers of these children, who are the most vulnerable in the world. We work to promote their social well-being and improve their living conditions.

Context:

Alarming neonatal mortality rate

In Madagascar, 5,400 children under five die from complications directly related to premature birth (Lancet 2014). The neonatal mortality rate was 24‰ per live birth (ESDMVIV 2008-2009); and in 2021, according to the EDSMD V, it rose to 26‰ per live birth. The leading cause of neonatal mortality, representing 38% of causes, is prematurity.

In Africa, a baby is 9 times more likely to die than in some high-income countries, according to UNICEF. The three major causes of neonatal mortality are: prematurity, sepsis, and birth asphyxia.

Our goal is to reduce the neonatal mortality rate, especially mortality due to prematurity and its short- and long-term complications
